Google Search Engine Advice for 2009

In a recent interview at PubCon, Google Search Engineer Matt Cutts highlighted a few important things to look for in 2009.

I have listed some key points from the Matt Cutts Interview below as well as the video. Enjoy!

  • The importance of website conversion data versus raw Analytic data.
  • Having multiple sub-domains optimized for a niche will no longer help you dominate a search engine result page (SERP).
  • Universal Search is more important than ever before and only growing in importance (not good for international companies with one domain).
  • Blogs, Videos and Images are only growing as a means to reach a broader more search educated (tech savvy) customer with your message, products and services.
  • Your website content must be optimized for mobile devices, meaning minimal and selective use of flash.

    Web marketing and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be dizzying subjects for many business owners and marketing companies. In this article, I am going to discuss inbound links.

    Inbound links are a great way to market a website online. An inbound link is a link from an internet website to the website you are trying to promote. It is important to note that not all inbound links are created equal and your link building campaign should be carefully planned. If the website linking to your target site is in a relevant field, you will see a greater benefit than one from an unrelated field. As an example, if a manufacturer of widget x links to a website selling widget x, this is the perfect “authority” link and these are your best types of inbound links. » Read more: What are inbound links and why should you care?
