I am going to start adding Client questions to our blog to help others, and I will call them “Client Q&A”.
Today’s question comes from Stephen:
Comments: Hi. I have one, possibly two, WordPress blogs of my own that I might be interested in transferring to Delaware.Net’s $50/year hosting plan. I also help people and businesses set-up and maintain blogs, so I might be able to use your hosting services for at least some of those. If I could get answers to two questions, I should be able to make a decision. From the sound of your information, it sounds like you do provide both of these services, but I wanted to make sure.
First, do you offer a service where you either continuously or periodically update the WordPress program? Is that automatic? Do you charge for that service if it is not included in the hosting charge?
Second, do you offer a “concierge” service, where you would transfer all files? What would be the charge, if any, for that service?
Thank you so much for your time,
Stephen
Stephen,
Thank you for your questions about our WordPress Blog Hosting services. WordPress is the blog software of choice because it has tremedous search engine optimization performance, is easy to use and update, and it is highly extendable with add-ins. This is why Delaware.net uses WordPress for its own blogs. I’ll address both of your questions directly:
Automated WordPress Updates: Yes, our WordPress blogs can be setup for auto-updates. The more recent versions of WordPress have this service built-in, but it takes some special hosting settings for it to work. Mention the auto-update to our support staff when we setup your accounts.
Concierge Service: Delaware.Net will help you move your sites to our servers, and there typically isn’t a charge for us to do so. Some websites that move to us have a lot of customization, which can make setup difficult. In cases such as those, there could be an hourly fee for setup. Since we are talking about WordPress blogs, I am pretty confident that there would be no charge to move your blogs to us.
